The Glen Burnie Day Care that’s Fun & Educational

If you have children ages 2-5 and are looking for a licensed child care provider in Glen Burnie, we are the day care center you’ve been looking for.

We are conveniently located off Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie, between Route 97 and Route 100, just 1 mile from Baltimore Washington Medical Center and 7 miles from BWI Airport. Our local day care center has served the greater Glen Burnie and Eastern Severn, Maryland, residents for over 50 years. As daycare providers who have worked with parents to help their children learn and grow, we know there is more to choosing a provider that has a convenient location. So, we wanted to give you the opportunity to learn all about who we are and what we will provide to your children to help you make the best decision for your child's development.

Our Day Care Philosophy

We believe that our job as a daycare facility is to do more than “watch children.” As people who will spend many hours with your children throughout the week, it is our responsibility to help them develop and grow while making them feel loved. This doesn’t happen by happenstance.

There are three things we believe that help us aid in your child’s development.

  1. Children should have the opportunity to learn through fun. Research shows that superior learning occurs when classroom experiences are enjoyable and relevant to a child’s life, interests, and experiences.

  2. Children need physical activity. Physical activity is good for a child’s physical and mental development. (Plus, parents always appreciate it when their kids get some excess energy out before coming home!)

  3. A loving heart should be at the center of a child’s care. When kids feel loved, they thrive.

Wesley Day Care Center is built around these three principles. We provide opportunities to learn through fun and engaging activities catered to the hearts and minds of the little ones. There is ample space for physical activities both indoors and outdoors, where there is a large playground for children.

Most importantly, our teachers aren’t babysitters. They are people with a heart for helping children grow who love what they do.

Available Day Care Programs

A daycare program should be developed to make day care a fun as well as an educational experience for children based on each child’s ability and readiness. This means that the programs should be age-based and cover a range of activities consistent with their developmental needs.

At Wesley Daycare Center, we have three (3) day care programs available:

  • 2-3 year old program

  • 3 year old program

  • 4-5 year old program

Our curriculum includes arts and crafts, reading, language, math, science, social studies, music, and computers. Our program is planned as the zest for life is shown in the eyes and voices of children.

Here is an example of a normal day in our 3 year old program:

  • 7:30 am Open free play or story time

  • 9:00 am morning snack

  • 9:30 am - Large group circle time

  • 10:00 am - Structured Program (art, math, etc.)

  • 11:00 am - Indoor/Outdoor Activities

  • 12:00 pm - Lunch

  • 12:30 pm - Rest Period

First time? What to expect from Day Care

If this is your first child or first child that’s going to day care, then you may be a little curious and maybe even a little worried as to what will happen at day care. While there are some daycare horror stories, that’s not the norm. When you find a quality daycare provider, the risk of any horror stories is greatly diminished. Like us at Wesley Daycare Center, we are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment. We also have highly experienced staff with an eye for details.

We can’t speak for all day care providers, but here’s what you can expect from us.

When you bring your child in for the first time, we will take the time to get them acclimated and comfortable with the rest of the children. We find that most children (yes, even the shy ones) get comfortable rather quickly when encouragement and age-appropriate activities are provided.

There is a consistent schedule every day which gives the children confidence and security. It also helps you as a parent better understand what your child is doing throughout the day.

Throughout the day, the children will be engaged in various age-appropriate group activities to help them develop their mental and social skills. But, there will also be free time for your child to engage in activities they like the most.

Children are fed snacks and lunch every day as well as provided with a quiet time to rest. As you come to pick up your child, a staff member will greet you and can be available for a short period of time to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

As you can see from our daily scheduling, you can expect your child to be cared for and allowed to grow during your absence. First-time parents quickly see how good daycare can be for their developing child and often experience a bit of stress relief as they know they have consistent care for their child.
